My Hard Drive crashed (I think it is a damaged head) and I am looking for a company that offeres hard drive data recovery and that is reputable and is reasonably priced. I only have about half my artwork on my external Hard Drive so I need to get my damaged one repair since it has half of my artwork and much more. Does anyone know of any good companies? Thanks for you help. If I can get everything recovered I will finally release some icons I made a while ago. Again thanks.

I think the important phrase is 'reasonably priced'.  Data recovery from mechanically-failed drives is as 'reasonably priced' as the importance of the work data to be recovered.

To some, ANY price is reasonable...

In simple....be prepared to pay...

I would personally look for a local company instead of one where you have to send the drive out.

The biggest question you have to ask your self is how much is the data worth... there are tons of Data Recovery Companies out there... some charge no diag fee... some charge a diag fee... most of the time the cheapest is not the best... and if you go with something local make sure that it's a company that knows what they are doing... ask for references and check them out on the web...

I know from experience that going with a repitable company is better than some mom and pop place down the street

do a search on google... you will find names like Ontrack Data Recovery, Action Front, DriveSavers... check them out and find the best that suits you...

personally I like Ontrack but that is me...

Do you have any expereicne with Ontrack? I want to go with a company that someone can vouch for. I can't find one. As for me, I really want my data and I sort of need it. I have more stuff than I can even think of on that disk, plus I have business plans I have drawn up, invention writeups and drawings, email records, all my artwork, all my game saves, all my IM conversation records, all of my collection of things from WC is on there as well. Anyways Island Dog, I prefer to do a national company because I don't trust any of the local companies, one that 'fixed' my hard drive about 5 years ago actually just put a new hard drive in and installed an ILLEGAL version of Windows. They still call back often to see how my experience was and I say.. '

until they hang up or curse back.
Anyways thats my little rant about Computronics. Anyways I will check out Ontrack, I just am wondering if you have ahad any personal expereicne with them XavierBlack. Thanks all for your replies.

Sir UpsideDownGC I do have experience with Ontrack... thus the reason I would recomend them... however due to personal reason/decision I won't talk about them in an open board channel... if you want more then I would say email but I'm not sure what the rules on putting email addresses here in the board are... else I would put mine here for you to write me...
